True fine gay por. how to#
I loved the scene where his mother played by Alicia Silverstone says "Don't use your puppy dog innocent looks on me!! They won't work." His character knew how to play people for sure. He has his motives and I wanted an even juicier script for the sake of Garrett. There is so much going on behind the eyes and actions of his character.

And bottom line to watch Garrett Clayton bring Brent to life with such realism and passion with a script that definitely lacked the words and tools to guide him is a true experience. It just couldn't decide whether it was a story about the gay porn industry, a story about Brent Corrigan, a dark comedy but it does all work. I got used to Franco and the film got better and better each time. But after my third viewing everything fell together.

"Steve" is killed at the time he supposedly won't let Brent out of his contract. James Franco took an over the top character and made him basically unbearable.īut you know the story. Then we jump to the Franco scenes and with my first viewing he was so over the top it ruined the experience for me. The story line following Steve and Brent is well played out, yes needs more backstory but will pull you in fully. The other issue is this film is described as a "dark comedy" but that genre only seems to pop up with the scenes with James Franco and Keegan Allen playing the escorts/rival porn makers Harlow and Joe who desperately want to work with Brent to help enhance their floundering cash flow. What was Brent's background story? How did he even get to the point of going to see Steve beyond an "internet site." Bottom line - what were both these characters main motivations. There are so many reasons to love this film and at the same time there are some real problems with it like why couldn't it go deeper into the lives of the characters. Christian Slater plays Steve and also gets deep and realistically into his role. I knew of this whole story and of the murder of "Stephen" (name change here) the man who had discovered Sean Lockhart aka Brent and was the mogul behind Cobra Video where he made his first films. With Garrett he owned the role so fully it was as if you were watching the real person. This was not just good acting or mere good casting. I can also tell you that from first viewing, actually the first scene, Garrett Clayton provides a groundbreaking career defining starring role portraying Brent Corrigan.

I had to watch this film 3 times before I could honestly say what I thought of the entire thing as a whole.

Robot), a closeted gay porn mogul who runs the skin flick empire Cobra Video from his seemingly ordinary suburban home. Taking the stage name Brent Corrigan, a fresh-faced, wannabe adult video performer (Garrett Clayton) is molded into a star by Stephen (Christian Slater, Mr. It’s 2006, YouTube is in its infancy, and internet porn is still behind a paywall. Based on a stranger-than-fiction true story, King Cobra is a deliciously dark, twisted plunge into the behind-the-scenes world of the pornography industry. The very best performance was by his rival in the biz, played by Keegan Allen. I am sure that as a budding gay porn star he had his beginnings as the shy kid next door but I didn't feel that either. There were a lot of terrific performances here by Christian Slater and James Franco and although the main character Sean is played by Garrett Clayton, I wasn't convinced by his performance. There are a lot of elements to this story and I found it all the be interesting and oddly humorous, too. I do not remember this happening at all so I guess it was either really hushed up or it wasn't big news in 2006.

I went for 5 stars on this movie because it was something different and because it is real, insofar as I know of the facts.
